  • There are approximately 2,058,915 adoptees in the United States, roughly 2.5% of all children1
  • In 2009, there were 57,466 public agency domestic adoptions in the United States2
  • Between 1999-2010, there have been 224,615 international adoptions in the United States3
  • In 2010, there were 11,058 international adoptions in the United States4
  • The top 5 countries from which children were adopted to the United States in 2010 were China, Ethiopia, Russia, South Korea and Ukraine5
  • In Minnesota, there are approximately 31,378 adoptees under 18, and 7,181 adoptees over 186
  • In 2007, 602 children were adopted domestically in Minnesota7
  • In 2010, 397 children were adopted internationally to Minnesota8
  • Minnesota has over 30,000 adoptees from Asia, and of these 30,000 roughly half are Korean9

Last Event

AHA has hosted a variety of events including an Orphan Train Riders Recognition Day event at the Minnesota History Center; Transracial Truth, Healing and Reconciliation Forum facilitated by First Nations Orphan Association and co-sponsored by Metropolitan State University; an open mic and poetry reading “In Our Own Words: Mothers Remembered;” and an informal Adoptee Meet-Up for area adoptees to meet and share information about their groups and organizations.
