Our Mission

We promote connections among adopted and fostered people of all ages, ethnicities and family types which maximizing their lifelong welfare and self-fulfillment

Our Beliefs

  • We believe that being adopted has lifelong consequences for those who were adopted at any age.
  • We believe that adoptees benefit from connecting with other adoptees.
  • We believe that adoptees are the experts in adoption.
  • We believe that others, including parents and professionals, benefit rom the knowledge and life wisdom of adopted and fostered individuals.

Our Goals

  • To empower adopted individuals of all races and cultures across the lifespan throughout the State of Minnesota
  • To maximize the longevity and quality of family and community relationships for adopted individuals
  • To maximize the individual well-being and long-term potential of adopted individuals
  • To capture the knowledge and life wisdom of older adptees and fosterees across race and culture in order to empower younger adoptees, adoptive families and adoption practitioners.

Last Event

AHA has hosted a variety of events including an Orphan Train Riders Recognition Day event at the Minnesota History Center; Transracial Truth, Healing and Reconciliation Forum facilitated by First Nations Orphan Association and co-sponsored by Metropolitan State University; an open mic and poetry reading “In Our Own Words: Mothers Remembered;” and an informal Adoptee Meet-Up for area adoptees to meet and share information about their groups and organizations.
